Are Scented Candles Safe?

We all burn candles in our homes from time to time, however with the recent surge in popularity of scented candles, there is the on-going concern as to the safety of candles and whether or not it really is safe to burn them on a daily basis. We spoke to Busy Bee Candles who have kindly offered their top candle safety tips.

Whilst there are obviously no apparent health risks of burning candles in your home or workplace, the obvious risk comes in the form of them being a naked flame and as such having a fire risk. If used safely and under control, burning candles should not be a risk, but that’s where the issues can arise. Many people don’t think twice before lighting a candle and put in place the necessary measures to ensure their safety.

We’re pleased to offer you our 3 top tips for burning scented candles:

1) Always burn them in a clear space.
Always ensure that candles are burned in an open space, away from curtains, wallpaper or paper items. Always sticking to this is something which is very important in ensuring their safe use.

2) Place them on a tray.
Many candles still drip wax and this wax is very hot. Always ensure you place candles on a drip tray to catch any wax.

3) Blow them out well before you sleep.
Many people burn candles before they to go bed to help them relax but this can be a massive fire hazard. Always be sure to blow scented candles out well before you fall asleep to ensure there is no fire risk whilst you sleep.

All in all, burning candles should be fun and relaxing and if done with a few simple precautions, there should be very little risk! Enjoy them but be safe!
